Data Center Network Maintenance week of 5/29/17
Based on recommendations from our vendor, ENCS and DCS will be performing network maintenance on the University Park Data Center Network the week of 5/29/17. The maintenance is a follow up to issues experienced over spring break and have been tested to show they will improve network reliability and performance. These same maintenance activities have been performed over the course of this week at the University Technology Center (UTC).
The maintenance to be performed:
On Wednesday May 31, ENCS and DCS will be loading firmware on the DC routers. This will require a reboot of each of the DC routers, which will be performed separately. A disruption of 5-10 seconds is expected due to network convergence as each router is rebooted. The first reboot will be at 5:30 am with the second reboot to follow directly after the first reboot is complete. A total of two 5-10 second outages between 5:30 and 5:40 is to be expected.
On Thursday June 1, ENCS and DCS will be upgrading the connectivity between the DC routers to provide more capacity in the case of a failure of other connections on the DC routers.
