Service Degradation for Data Center Relocation
A number of services will be placed into a degraded state from 12:00 AM until 12:00 PM on November 24, 2013. To consolidate data center hardware from various locations on campus, specific services will need to be downgraded in functionality to accommodate the necessary migrations.
Services that will be affected during the relocation include, but are not limited to:
WebAccess
LDAP
Kerberos
Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM)
Friends of Penn State (FPS)
PASS
WIN AD (ACCESS.PSU.EDU domain)
Daily PASS and secondary ANGEL backups will not take place during the move. Additionally, various servers will be taken offline throughout the migration, including specific TSM servers. For a list of servers that will be unavailable from 12:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Sunday, November 24, please visit https://ait.its.psu.edu/events/20131124/ (for Penn State faculty and staff only).
Users should be aware that TSM servers will follow an extended outage period. Noted TSM servers will be offline from 11:59 PM Friday, November 22 until 12:00 PM Sunday, November 24.
Dependent services of WebAccess may experience slowness when logging in during the denoted time, however, outages are unlikely to occur.
All services downgraded during the move are expected to be restored to full functionality by 12:00 PM on Sunday, November 24. Services taken offline for the move are expected to follow a similar timetable in restoration.
Primary ANGEL and other non-listed backup services will continue to operate as expected.
